Hardy Middle School will hold an open house for prospective parents on Monday, December 15, at 9:30 a.m.
Eaton currently has dual feeder rights to both Hardy Middle and Deal Middle. Under the new boundary proposal, enacted by Mayor Gray, Eaton will feed only to Hardy beginning with the students in our current 2nd grade class that do not have a sibling in 3rd or 4th grade.
At the December 9 HSA meeting, Hardy's Principal Pride answered questions and briefed the attendees about recent improvements to the school, the benefits of a smaller student population and ongoing curriculum development.
Hardy also has an active PTO that meets for coffee the first Friday of every month at 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. outside the 35th street entrance when the weather cooperates, or in the Parent Resource Room on the first floor if it's too cold outside. It's an informal gathering where parents can meet and talk, and they welcome any interested Eaton families.

SPOTLIGHT: EAGLE TIME
In November, the school hosted an Open House for parents to experience the special classes offered in the very popular Eagle Time program.
Eagle Time is a weekly enrichment opportunity for all students in grades 3-5. Each year, students participate in three 8-week sessions. At the beginning of each school year, students are given the opportunity to rank a selection of enrichment classes based on their personal interest.
The Eagle Time electives explore a range of topics:
Eagle Time class sizes are generally smaller than regular classes which allows the teachers and students to build stronger relationships and explore the subject matter in a more interactive way. Eagle Time classes meet on Friday mornings.
One of the classes offered by our SET-funded Enrichment Coordinators is the popular Continent Quest class. Students learn about world geography and are excited about exploring the world with our talented teachers.
