Congratulations Ms. Mistry and Mr. Lewis DCPS 2018 Rubenstein Award Recipients!​ The Rubenstein Awards for Highly Effective Educators honors excellent teachers, school leaders and support staff and aides with an award of $5,000.  The awards are funded through the generosity of David Rubenstein, co-founder and managing director of the Carlyle Group and chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Eligible teachers must earn a rating of Highly Effective under the IMPACT Teacher Performance Evaluation System . The Rubenstein Award for Highly Effective Teaching winners will be recognized at the annual Standing Ovation for DC Public Schools, hosted by DC Public Education Fund at  the Anthem in the SW Waterfront in February 2019.  Thank you, Ms. Mistry and Mr. Lewis,  for your dedication to the students at John Eaton ES.

Congratulations to Eaton 3rd grader Lucien Bell on being a finalist in the Doodle 4 Google challenge! Lucien's doodle was made with recycled parts from a DVR. A group of Washington, DC, third graders learned that recently during a lesson on just how connected the world is — and how essential their city’s trees are to a musical little bird that spends half of its life thousands of miles away. Washington Performing Arts has chosen to honor our very own Mr. Jamal Brown with the 2016 Stern Award for his hard work and dedication in providing music instruction on string instruments to Eaton students.

Did you know that Mrs. Fotheringill is the great-granddaughter of D. Williams Johnson of the Cincinnati Red Stockings?

Check out this video as Mrs. Fotheringill throws out the first pitch.  Her husband, Mr. Fotheringill (also in the video) volunteers every Friday morning to provide a unique Eagle Time baseball-themed enrichment class. We appreciate all that Mrs. Fotheringill does to instill the love of reading with our Eaton students!

Congratulations to Eaton's own Sarah Lavezzo!  Ms. Lavezzo was named National Geographic's Educator of the Week!  Ms. Lavezzo is one of the enrichment teachers for grades 1-5 at John Eaton Elementary School.  She previously taught fifth grade. This is her second year using the U.S. Institute of Peace’s Peacebuilding Toolkit with Eaton students.  Read the full story...

Click on this link to view Eaton students as they testify before DC Council members in support of the bill "DC Rocks, So We Need One."  Out of all the children, in all the schools in Washington, DC, this group of Eaton Eagles realized that we do not have a state rock and then they did something about it!  We think our Eaton Eagles rock!
