In the Summer of 2012, a cross-section of Eaton parents, administrators, and teachers came together to define Eaton's mission, vision, and guiding beliefs. We started with basic questions relating to Eaton's reason for being and its purpose. The resulting framework, shown here, provides a set of guideposts that helps us ensure that we are making decisions with our resources that make sense for the community as a whole.

Our purpose is to provide each Eaton student with a well-rounded, 21st century education that prepares him or her, regardless of background or circumstance, for success in and beyond elementary school.
Vision
Eaton Elementary School and its diverse community of life-long learners embody academic tenacity, compassion, and global citizenship.
Guiding Beliefs
At Eaton ES, we believe:
· A diverse student population, including those with special needs, enhances the learning environment and promotes acceptance and empathy of individual differences.
· All children, regardless of background or circumstance, can achieve at their highest levels, reinforcing that achievement is a function of effort and academic tenacity, not only innate ability.
· Exposing students to multiple cultures and disciplines will develop compassion, respect, and appreciation of diverse viewpoints.
· Engaging, relevant, and aligned curricula, instruction, and assessments are critical to effective teaching and learning.
· Teachers, administrators, and staff must continuously collaborate, learn, and improve their artand practice.
· Strong partnerships among family, community, and school are essential to student success.
